Here in Phoenix, wedding dates book up extremely quickly, particularly because of our shorter wedding season due to the heat. Peak dates with Kairos Photography are often booked 12-18 months in advance! If you are planning on getting married in the Spring or Fall/Winter, hiring a photographer should come immediately after you secure your venue, if wedding photography is a priority for you. There are some exceptions, and I’ll sometimes have openings due to a cancellation, etc, so it never hurts to ask, if your wedding is less than a year out!
Another benefit of booking in advance, other than making sure you get the professional you want, is that you’ll have plenty of time to pay off your photography balance.
With Kairos Photography, for example, after you make the initial 25% deposit, you can make any size payment, at any time up until the wedding when the balance is due. That means, you could make small payments each payday, instead of having to make a lump sum payment. Basically, you just have more options!
What it comes down to is making sure you get the wedding photographer that meshes with you and your fiancés personalities and style, so you don’t end up having to choose from a smaller pool of “available photographer.” Taking the time to interview or research photographers early on in your engagement will always be the best bet if beautiful, professional wedding photography is important to you both.
As always, I’m more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the process, or to check and see if your date is available, with no strings attached! My goal is to make sure you have all the info at your fingertips, and that you end up with the photographer that best suits you, even if it’s not me!
Kori and Nick were such a cool, young couple. Their wedding was held at a community center at a park in Gilbert, but you’d swear you were at one of Phoenix’s top golf courses. The grounds were ridiculously beautiful, and the overcast sky was a photographers dream! (no harsh light, a kind of dreamy backdrop). We battled a few sprinkles, and they had to have their ceremony under the awning instead of out in the grass as planned, but despite being a bit squeezed in on the patio, it was just perfect!
The interior of the community center was decorated in a Woodland Chic theme, with twigs and greenery, and it really fit the mood of the day. Such a beautiful departure from the traditional heat, and Desert Chic theme we so often see here in Arizona. I felt like I was shooting a wedding in Seattle!
Congrats, Kori & Nick!
